Obama Planning Major Shifts in Government Spending. President Obama proposed a 10-year budget, including $3.5 trillion for 2009 (with a $1.75 trillion deficit), that reflects his determination in face of recession to invest trillions of dollars in reshaping the nation’s priorities. He intends to overhaul health care, fight global warming, expand the federal role in education, and shift costs to corporations and the wealthy. This is a clear move away from free enterprise and towards more expensive, pervasive government-in essence, Socialism.
Israel’s Economic Fix: Cut Spending, Cut Taxes, and Reduce Size of Government. Benjamin Netanyahu intends to apply the same small-government policies when he becomes Israel’s prime minister as he did six years ago as finance minister. Then, his tax and spending cuts helped lift the economy out of recession.
U.S. Moves to Increase Ownership of Citigroup. The Treasury Department reached a deal to take a 30% to 40% stake in the nation’s biggest bank.
Bloggers and Unions Join Forces to Push Democrats to Left. A group of liberal bloggers is teaming up with organized labor and MoveOn.org to form a political action committee that would seek to push the Democratic Party further to the left. The intend to recruit liberal candidates to challenge more centrist Democrats in Congress. This is a big threat to a free America.
Health Care Moves to Top of Congressional Agenda. As part of Obama’s $3.5 trillion budget proposal, he is asking for $634 billion as the first down payment on universal (Socialized) health care. The funds are to be raised by increasing taxes on “the rich”. Congressional Democrats have latched on to Obama’s proposals and have launched initiatives in Congress to support his plans.
Elected Officials Treat Obama Like King: Wait 12.5 House to Shake his Hand. A number of Congressmen waited for up to 12.5 hours simply to shake President Obama’s hand at the State of the Union address earlier this week. CNN’s Anderson Cooper recaps the nonsense:
