If you ask ten people what their tax bracket is, I would be surprised if two people could actually give you the correct response. Since federal law mandates that income taxes are withheld from each paycheck, people are often unaware of the percent of taxes that they pay to the federal government. Include state taxes, deductions, credits, exemptions, and refunds into the mix, and the issue becomes even murkier. However, being keenly aware of your tax bracket can save you thousands of dollars each year- adding up to big bucks over a lifetime.
